Start with the city rules

Raleigh, Apex, and other municipalities set their own collection rules. Check the official city page before assuming a curbside program covers the job. Eligibility, accepted materials, pickup timing, and fees can change.

Curbside is different from interior removal

A city program may require items to be placed at the curb. A private quote can be useful when items are inside a room, in a garage, upstairs, behind a gate, or part of a larger cleanout. Confirm the actual scope before planning the job.

Businesses may have different options

Some municipal programs are limited to residential customers or exclude commercial entities. Raleigh’s official bulky, special, and e-waste page and Apex’s bulk-item page should be checked directly for current eligibility.

When a photo quote helps

Send a wide photo of the load, close-ups of unusual items, and photos of the access path. That gives a private hauler enough context to discuss scope, pricing, and timing.
